Water Reaches Kaguvalasa

Kaguvalasa is a farming village in the Araku Valley, about 27 kilometers from Araku town. Around 37 families, about 140 people, live here and grow rice, mostly for their own needs.

Until now, drinking water came from springs in the surrounding hills, and at times from stored tank water. In the summer months, the springs run low, and families walked long distances to carry water home.

In mid-November 2025, the village gathered to open its own Breakthrough Water well, the 209th since 2012.

Where Breakthrough Water Began

The first Breakthrough Water well was completed in Makkuva on June 10, 2012. The team had drilled 160 feet into dry rock and was close to giving up. After prayer, drilling continued for another 25 feet—and water came gushing out.

That breakthrough gave the program its name and began the work that has now reached 220 completed wells.
