Abraham Thomas knew what it meant to live without a water source of his own. Morning and evening, he and his sisters crossed the road to a Hindu neighbor’s well. Her kindness crossed religious lines. “The kindness that Hindu woman showed me is etched in my heart forever.” — Abraham Thomas. Years later, visiting a friend in India, he saw that same burden again. In that moment, he heard what he describes as a still, small voice: “Give them Water.” Makkuva, Andhra Pradesh, June 2012. Within three days, drilling began. 160 ft of dry rock. No water. They were close to giving up. Instead, they prayed and continued drilling. Another 25 feet. Water came gushing out. That breakthrough gave the program its name: Breakthrough Water. Since June 2012: 220 wells completed. 218 in India, 2 in Sri Lanka. 45,000+ people served. 8,700+ families served.
